Susan C. Larkin / Snow Day in Caroline

We have about two feet of new snow on our hill in Caroline. We’re waiting for a plow to clear a path to the garage and down the driveway. I shoveled the walkway by the front door and stepped out with my camera to capture the view of a favorite stump. My husband says it looks like a mushroom. Any other suggestions?

Hmm… I’m afraid it calls forth several more anatomical images for me. Think of parts of the body that come in rounded pairs; at least three come to mind…
    Lovely image…

My thoughts of a double ice cream cone have been replaced.

Following a new path I’ll see where it takes me:-)

      Thanks!

Like Nancy, I see the tail of the Great White Whale… but graphically, I am very interested in the in-camera collage effect you created in the “oval” shaped space to the right of the trunk. The negative spaces in the lower part of the photo rhythmically move my eyes in a wavelike motion across, then up the right side of the trunk-snow “mushroom.” I have spent quite a long time tracing the elements of where snow ends, sky begins, or tree trunks becoming part of a wooden shed. Very complex image if you just look at shape, tone, line, etc. rather than subject matter of snow on tree trunk!

With your help my eyes are finding panels with different designs to the right to the left and above the double ice cream cone, mushroom, whale tail, and representation of human body parts. Who knew that in the cold (and heat in the summer) that such a scene has presented itself.
        Thanks!

That comment is supposed to go to Nancy’s tail of a whale. Looks like I need practice on where to make replies…
