    Ethel,
It is wonderful to see such a vivid color palette! I am used to your more subtle, playful, grid-like compositions (like the painting of yours that I own!) As I spend some time looking at this, I think of traditional still life paintings, as they often capture flowers at peak beauty. This composition suggests all the stages, from bud to blossom, to the final wisp of a dried up stem, a petal-less stamen-pistil – maybe I am imagining this! I also think about that intensity of reds – maybe a hot world of the future. The thin green stem carries the promise of survival and new flowers next June. The tension you’ve created is masterful! I will certainly try to visit the gallery before the show comes down!
